Grilled Peaches with Cinnamon Whipped Cream
There's a natural sweetness that comes out in fruit when it's met with high heat. This is why I love to sear peaches, especially on the grill. This dish has brown sugar sprinkled on at the end, but the sweetness is subtle and only compliments the caramelization.
Since dessert is usually served last, sometimes it feels like it should also be made in that order. The beauty with this dish is that you can grill it first - especially if you have a bunch of saucy concoctions on the menu - and pop everything in the fridge for a cool treat later on at the cookout.
Grilled Peaches with Whipped Cream
Ingredients
About 4-6 servings
6 Peaches, halved and pitted
3 Tablespoons vegetable oil
Pinch of brown sugar for topping, optional
Whipped Cream
2 cups whipping cream
4 Tablespoons Powdered Sugar
2 teaspoons Cinnamon
1 Tablespoon Vanilla
Steps
1. Coat the halved and pitted peaches in vegetable oil.
2. Grill the peaches cut side down, on the hot zone of the grill for about 3-5 minutes. Carefully turn the peaches over and grill for about 3-5 more minutes. Cool the peaches to room temperature.
3. In a large bowl, use a wire whisk to whip the whipping cream. Use large circular motions to beat the cream until you it firms up to the desired consistency. Add in the vanilla, powdered sugar, and cinnamon and whisk until evenly incorporated. Keep in the refrigerator until ready for serving.
4. Slice the peach halves, dollop the whipped cream and sprinkle with brown sugar to serve.
